E’grid Biaxial Polypropylene geogrids can solve pavement problems by providing omni-axial reinforcement to granular sub-bases, capping layers and railway ballasts in areas of weak & variable soils. E’GRID® polypropylene biaxial geogrids have demonstrated that when used to reinforce an unpaved road they offer one of the largest possible reductions in the required sub-base thickness. This is due to E’GRID® bi-axial geogrids offering a combination of integral junctions and optimum rib cross-sections that have been developed to maximise interlock between the sub-base particles and grid apertures; a feature unique to punched & stretched geo- grids only.

“Egrid Biaxial Polypropylene geogrids can solve pavement problems by providing omni-axial reinforcement to granular sub-bases, capping layers and railway ballasts in areas of weak & variable soils. When granular particles are compacted over these grids, they partially penetrate and project through the apertures to create a strong and positive interlock. The load dispersal effect from the interlocking mechanism increases shearing resistance within the soil, improving compaction and allowing sub-base thickness to be reduced, ultimately reducing construction time and cost. Applications for sub-base reinforcement include: • Construction haul roads • Working platforms on weak sub-soils • Paved & unpaved roads • Parking & Paved areas • Railways & Ports • Multi layer applications Different forms of geosynthetic reinforcement offer different savings in sub-base thicknesses. In an effort to quantify their reinforcing effect, a range of geosynthetic product types was analysed and reviewed by CROW, the Netherlands Information and Technology Centre for Transport and Infrastructure. CROW report 157 ‘Thin asphalt pavements – design and redesign’ provides a range of curves applicable to a number of material types. This clearly shows that an E’Grid® type ‘stretched geogrid from a punched plate’ out performed all other material types in the test; including stretched & extruded geogrids, woven geogrids, woven geotextiles and nonwovens with grids. E’grid Biaxial Polypropylene geogrids 2020 – 4 x 50 metre roll (20KN) Biaxial Geogrid Specification Typical Dimensions (mm) E’GRID BIAXIAL GEOGR Note 1 In accordance with BS2782 Part 4, Method 452B, 1993. Note 2 Measured in accordance with ISO10319 at 20 ± 2 oC; calculated as the 95% lower confidence limit in accordance with ISO2602 1980 (BS 2846 Part 2 1981).
